MHNA Volunteer Sign Up for the Melon Dash 5K & Fun Run

Saturday, August 2, 2014 - 7:45am

Dear Members of MHNA, It is that time of year again, for the annual Melon Dash 5K and Fun Run. This year the race is on Saturday August 2. The kids Fun Run is scheduled to start at 7.45am, and the main event 5K at 8.15am. We are projecting a participation of 1,700 - 1,800 runners (last year was 1,500). This year we are focusing on family and community, and we want to try and involve the local retailers and restaurants/cafes as much as possible. We want to keep the runners in the area after the race to visit the Farmers Market, and meander through the square and fill up seats on patios and restaurants. We are asking that you once again provide the bails of hay, we would like to set up a little area for photos, where people can take their own pictures, but use some hay bails and watermelons as a backdrop / props. We will want to expand your picnic area this year as well, and add a few more tables. The face painter was a great touch last year and we would love if you could provide that service again, along with any other games/ family activities you wish. It has been successful the past couple of years to set-up the night before the race, so we will do the same thing this year.
